§ LORD OGMORE asked Her Majesty's Government:
§ Whether their attention has been drawn to the proposal of the Glamorgan County Council to destroy Cowbridge Grammar School, an ancient and admirable foundation in the Vale of Glamorgan for which there is a great and continuing need, providing both boarding and day-boy facilities, in favour of a comprehensive school to be built some miles away at Llantwit Major; and if so, what steps they are taking to persuade the Glamorgan County Council to reconsider this decision so far as the Cowbridge Grammar School is concerned.
§ LORD BOWDEN: The Glamorgan County Council have not taken any decision about the future of Cowbridge Grammar School. Any decision to close this School would require the approval of my right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science under Section 13 of the Education Act, 1944.
§ House adjourned at ten minutes before eight o'clock.
