HL Deb 29 July 1965 vol 268 cc1437-8
LORD SHEPHERD

My Lords, at a suitable moment after 3.30 my noble friend Lord Shackleton will be making a Statement on the Government's plan to reorganise the Reserve Army.

Perhaps I might take this opportunity to make a Statement about forthcoming Business. So far as to-day's proceedings are concerned, it is proposed to conclude the Committee stage of the Rent Bill. It is recognised that this may mean a late Sitting. In those circumstances, it has been arranged that there should be a break for dinner between 7.30 and 8.30. The Committee stages of the Race Relations Bill and the Redundancy Payments Bill have been set down for Monday and Tuesday next week respectively, with italic notes indicating that it is the Government's hope, if the House agrees, to take the remaining stages on the same day. This, of course, is if the House accepts that advice. I should like to stress that the Government attach particular importance to obtaining the Royal Assent to the Redundancy Payments Bill next Thursday. Finally, I should like to tell the House that, subject to progress on Business, this House will adjourn for the Recess on Thursday next, August 5.
