HL Deb 18 February 1965 vol 263 cc677-8

LORD HAWKE asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the Agricultural Land (Removal of Surface Soil) Act, 1953, is in force; and, if so, whether planning permissions to strip soil have been granted for the stripping of turf in the neighbourhood of Crawley New Town over the last two years.

LORD MITCHISON: The Act is in force. According to the information my right honourable friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government has received from the local planning authorities concerned—namely, East and West Sussex and Surrey County Councils—no such planning permissions have been granted.

House adjourned at ten minutes past six o'clock.
