My Lords, I beg leave to ask the first Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will state:—

  1. (a) the number of applications which have been made under the Control of Office and Industrial Development Act, 1965, to build or provide offices in London;
  2. (b) the number which have been granted and the superficial area;
  3. (c) the number which have been refused.]

THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY, BOARD OF TRADE (LORD RHODES)

Yes, my Lords, under (a) 413 applications for office development permits in Greater London had been made by the end of November, 1965; under (b) 84 permits have been granted for a total area of approximately 1.7 million square feet; and under (c) 172 applications have been refused.
