HL Deb 01 December 1965 vol 270 cc1248-9
THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD GARDINER)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper. Here, again, as your Lordships may observe from the Order Paper, there is a misprint in the name of my noble friend Lord Royle. In moving the Motion I should just like, if I may, to express my thanks to those additional noble Lords in all parts of the House who have been good enough to serve on this important Committee in this Session.

Moved, That in the present Session a Committee of twelve Lords be appointed to join with a Committee of the House of Commons as a Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills (whether public or private) Statute Law Revision Bills and Bills prepared pursuant to the Consolidation of Enactments (Procedure) Act 1949:

That the Memoranda laid and any representations made with respect thereto under the said Act be referred to the Joint Committee:

That the Lords following be named of the Committee:—

That such Committee have power to agree with the Committee of the House of Commons in the appointment of a Chairman.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to: Ordered, That a Message be sent to the Commons to acquaint them therewith and to request that they appoint twelve Members of that House to be joined with the said Committee.
