§ Order of the Day read for the consideration of the Fourth Report from the Select Committee.
§ The Committee's Report was as follows:
§ 1.—PALACE OF WESTMINSTER CONTROL AND CUSTODY
§ The Committee received an interim Report from the Administration Committee.
§ 2.—THE ROLL OF HONOUR
§ The Committee considered and agreed to a request from the Victoria and Albert Museum for the loan of the Roll of Honour for an exhibition of calligraphy to be held in the month of November.
§ 3.—PARLIAMENT OFFICE
§ The Clerk of the Parliaments informed the Committee of a new arrangement in regard to the Clerkship of the Journals.
§ The Committee authorised the payment of a special responsibility allowance to Mr. J. C. Sainty, Senior Clerk, on his appointment as Clerk of the Journals.
§ 4.—HANSARD REPORTING STAFF
§ The Committee sanctioned the application to temporary Reporters of the revised attendance fee as set out in the Appendix to Establishments Circular No. 12/65 with effect from 1st November, 1964.
§ 5.—OFFICIAL SHORTHAND WRITER
§ The Committee approved an increase in the scale of fees and the annual retaining fee for 281 the Official Shorthand Writer, as agreed with the House of Commons and the Treasury, with effect from 1st November, 1964.
§ 6.—REVISED SCALES OF PAY
§ The Committee sanctioned the application of the following Establishments Circulars:—
- (a) E.C. 13/65 Pay of the Higher Civil Service,
- (b) E.C. 14/65 Revision of pay scales between the Principal's maximum and the Assistant Secretary's minimum,
- (c) E.C. 20/65 Revision of allowances,
- (d) E.C. 21/65 Typing grades and proficiency allowances,
- (e) E.C. 22/65 and 26/65 Conditioned hours,
- (f) E.C. 25/65 Retrospection of overtime etc. following pay increases,
§ 7.—MEAL ALLOWANCE
§ The Committee approved an increase in the rate of meal allowance payable to certain officials working late in the evening after a normal day's duty.
§ 8.—DEPARTMENT OF THE LORD GREAT CHAMBERLAIN
§ The Committee authorised the employment of an additional temporary assistant for two to three weeks during the Summer Recess this year.
§ 9.—RETIREMENT
§ The Committee sanctioned the payment of a pension and an additional allowance under the Superannuation Acts to Mr. B. C. Arrow-smith, Custodian, who retired on 7th June, 1965.
