EARL ST. ALDWYNMy Lords, I should like to inform the House that in a few minutes' time my noble friend the Leader of the House will be making a statement on Cyprus.
§ EARL ALEXANDER OF HILLSBOROUGHMy Lords, I had only just been informed privately that it was understood that the statement on Cyprus would not be made, as there had not been time to deal with it. Which is correct?
§ LORD CARRINGTONMy Lords, I have not heard about that. I will look into the position for the noble Earl. It is, of course, the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations who is due to make the statement. I have not seen him for half an hour, but I will let the noble Earl know the position.
