THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (THE EARL OF HOME)My Lords, on behalf of the noble Viscount the Leader of the House, I have to acquaint the House that Her Majesty has appointed Air Chief Marshal Sir George Holroyd Mills, G.C.B., D.F.C., to be Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod in succession to Lieutenant-General Sir Brian Gwynne Horrocks, K.C.B., K.B.E., D.S.O., M.C., and that he is at the door ready to receive your Lordships' commands.
Whereupon the House directed he should be called in. Accordingly he was called in and officiated in his place.
