HL Deb 31 July 1962 vol 243 c161

Clause 44, page 34, line 39, leave out from ("inquiry") to ("as") in line 40 and insert ("caused by the Minister to be held in England or Wales under any provision of this Act (except section thirty-one thereof)").

LORD CHESHAM

My Lords, this Amendment is really consequential on Amendment No. 12, which has been agreed with, and Amendment No. 94, which we have yet formally to tackle. Both those Amendments give the Minister power to hold a public inquiry before making the orders to which those Amendments relate. As a result, the Amendment now proposed makes purely consequential amendments to subsection (1) of Clause 44, which relates to inquiries and hearings under the Bill. It is necessary because existing references to inquiries have to be revised. It is only a matter of revising them. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Chesham.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
