HL Deb 26 July 1962 vol 242 cc1122-3
EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, I beg to inform the House that it is proposed to adjourn for the Summer Recess at the conclusion of Business on Thursday next, August 2.

VISCOUNT ALEXANDER OF HILLS-BOROUGH

My Lords, do I take it that we still have to live in expectation of being recalled during the vacation, maybe sometime about September 18, or later than that?

EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, I hope to be in a position to make a statement about recall next week. But that, of course, would apply to the normal recall, and not to any special recall.

VISCOUNT ALEXANDER OF HILLS-BOROUGH

My Lords, I am not quite sure what that means. I understood that after the Meeting of the Commonwealth Premiers it was anticipated that Parliament would be called together, to approve, if the Government decided to enter the Common Market, that entry.

EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, there is certainly nothing that I can say now, neither do I expect to be able to say anything next week, about a recall in September. The passible date that I am referring to is when we should normally be coming back, some time in October.
