§ LORD BALFOUR OF INCHRYEMy Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.
§ [The Question was as follows:
§ To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they have any statement to make on the widely reported expression of the Minister of Labour in a 1166 public speech on June 30, that in connection with the Common Market negotiations Commonwealth countries were "behaving in some respects like children".]
§ LORD MILLSMy Lords, my noble friend the Foreign Secretary will, with the permission of the House, answer this Question, and the following Question in the name of the noble Viscount the Leader of the Opposition, in the form of a statement at a convenient moment after 3,30 this afternoon.
§ VISCOUNT ALEXANDER OF HILLSBOROUGHMy Lords, as I understand that this is in consequence of a personal statement made in another place, I hope that this will not preclude a direct answer to the specific Questions in the names of the noble Lord, Lord Balfour of Inchrye, and myself.
§ LORD MILLSI have no doubt that the Foreign Secretary, in repeating the statement to be made in another place, will answer the noble Viscount's Question.
