HL Deb 15 February 1962 vol 237 c583

3.5 p.m.

LORD TAYLOR

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether a review committee for clerical workers in the hospital services has been set up; and, if so, what considerations led the Government to this decision.

LORD NEWTON

Yes, my Lords. A committee is to inquire into the present arrangements for recruitment, training and promotion of administrative and clerical staffs in the hospital services, and to make recommendations. The primary consideration was the need to ensure the highest possible standards of administrative efficiency and staff management.

LORD TAYLOR

My Lords, can the noble Lord say whether this will include a review of the salaries of these workers?

LORD NEWTON

My Lords, the Committee will not be concerned either with salaries or with conditions of service.
