§ LORD NEWTONMy Lords, I should like to inform the House that at a convenient moment there will be a dinner adjournment this evening for three-quarters of an hour. Dinner will also be available between 7 and 9 p.m., and those of your Lordships who wish to dine are asked to give early notice to the Refreshment Department.
VISCOUNT ALEXANDER OF HILLS-BOROUGHMy Lords, I must say that I am most anxious about the further arrangements for the week. The noble Lord says that we are going to adjourn for dinner. With the very heavy agenda on this Bill, though the Government want to finish the Bill by Thursday, I must say that one must look after some of the convenience of your Lordships, especially those who in view of the Recess have made arrangements for travelling on Thursday. I hope, therefore, that if we are to adjourn to-night the noble Lord will at some time say at what time we shall finish in any case on Thursday night.
§ LORD NEWTONMy Lords, I have listened to what the noble Viscount has said. I think that the only answer I can give at the moment is that we shall have to see how we get along to-day, and 480 perhaps later on we shall be able to give a more definite answer about Thursday.
VISCOUNT ALEXANDER OF HILLS-BOROUGHMy Lords, I hope it will be made perfectly clear to the Government now (I personally have not been consulted, although I think there have been some consultations), that certainly this House ought not to be sitting after six o'clock on Thursday.
