HL Deb 02 May 1961 vol 230 c1175
THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (THE MARQUESS OF LANSDOWNE)

My Lords, it has been brought to my notice that the reply which I gave on Tuesday of last week to a supplementary question by the noble Baroness, Lady Summerskill [col. 748], as to whether raw materials are included in the Embargo List, was inaccurate. I apologise for having misinformed the House. I have, of course, informed the noble Lady.

Certain specialised raw materials such as niobium and tantalum are on the Embargo List, also such atomic energy source materials as uranium and lithium. These items are included in the Embargo List because they are key raw materials in the manufacture of implements of war.
