My Lords, in the unavoidable absence, through indisposition, of my noble friend Lord Fraser of Lonsdale, I beg leave to ask the Question standing in his name on the Order Paper.

To ask Her Majesty's Government how many Mosuto, sponsored by the authorities in Basutoland, are now receiving professional training in Britain and what subjects they are taking.]

THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (THE MARQUESS OF LANSDOWNE)

My Lords, 20 Basuto are receiving professional training in the United Kingdom, of whom 11 are sponsored by the Basutoland authorities. Their subjects are medicine, engineering. veterinary science, law, agriculture and teaching.
