§ Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.
§ THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT KILMUIR)My Lords, I beg to move that this Consolidation Bill be now read a second time.
§ Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Lord Chancellor.)
§ VISCOUNT ALEXANDER OF HILLSBOROUGHMy Lords, I do not wish to debate this matter, of course, but I should like to know whether this is solely a consolidating Bill, or whether it is likely that any Amendments will be introduced. This subject is overdue for consolidation, but I should like to have a careful look at it if there is to be any amendment of the regulations.
§ THE LORD CHANCELLORMy Lords, to the best of my knowledge the Bill is purely consolidation. If there are to he any technical Amendments I will make quite sure that the noble 'Viscount is informed.
§ On Question, Bill read 2a, and referred to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.
