HL Deb 11 April 1961 vol 230 c226

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT KILMUIR)

My Lords, I beg to move that this Consolidation Bill be now read a second time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

VISCOUNT ALEXANDER OF HILLSBOROUGH

My Lords, I do not wish to debate this matter, of course, but I should like to know whether this is solely a consolidating Bill, or whether it is likely that any Amendments will be introduced. This subject is overdue for consolidation, but I should like to have a careful look at it if there is to be any amendment of the regulations.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, to the best of my knowledge the Bill is purely consolidation. If there are to he any technical Amendments I will make quite sure that the noble 'Viscount is informed.

On Question, Bill read 2a, and referred to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.
