HL Deb 30 May 1960 vol 224 cc7-8

2.48 p.m.

THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL AND SECRETARY OF STATE FOR COMMONWEALTH RELATIONS (THE EARL OF HOME)

My Lords, in moving the Motion which stands in my name on the Order Paper, I should like to draw your Lordships' attention to the Notice about to-day's Business which was circulated by the Table last Friday. It is proposed, if your Lordships agree, to take the Second Reading of the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Bill, which now stands as first Business on the Paper, after the Report of Amendments to the Administration of Justice Bill. This is to enable the noble and learned Viscount, Lord Simonds, to speak on the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Bill which he would otherwise be unable to do, since he is sitting in the Appellate Committee upstairs until four o'clock. I hope your Lordships will agree to that change. I beg to move.

Moved, That Standing Order No. 35 be suspended until the House adjourns for the Recess at Whitsun for the purpose of giving Government Business (except with the consent of the Government) precedence over other Notices and Orders of the Day, and that Standing Order No. 41 (No two stages of a Bill to be taken on one day) be suspended for the aforesaid period.—(The Earl of Home.)

On Question, Motion agreed to, and ordered accordingly.
