HL Deb 28 July 1960 vol 225 c902

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE EARL OF DUNDEE

My Lords, I beg to move that this Bill be now read a second time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Earl of Dundee.)

VISCOUNT STANSGATE

My Lords, I had intended to ask a question on this Bill, because this is the widest opportunity that the House has to discuss anything and I had intended to raise the matter of the increased burden which falls on this House following on the Government changes. But it would be very inconvenient at this moment, and as I understand that Questions are to follow the Royal Commission to-morrow, I propose to put down an unstarred Question asking what the Government are doing to organise the Business of the House to meet the new charges that are placed upon it.

On Question, Bill read 2a; Committee negatived.

Then, Standing Order No. 41 having been suspended (pursuant to the Resolution of July 14), Bill read 3a, and passed.
