HL Deb 20 December 1960 vol 227 c847

3.0 p.m.

EARL ST. ALDWYN

I should like to inform the House that my noble friend Lord Perth will be making a statement at a suitable moment after 3.30 p.m. on the security of land titles in Kenya. With regard to the Weights and Measures Bill, it has been agreed that the House will sit until 8 o'clock on further consideration of the Committee stage of this Bill, and then, after that, the Trustee Investments Bill Report will be taken. The House will sit through dinner. Dinners will be available between seven and nine o'clock, and it would be helpful to the restaurant if noble Lords could have their dinners during that period. Depending on what progress is made this afternoon, it will probably be necessary for the House to meet at approximately 11.45 a.m. tomorrow to continue the Committee stage of the Weights and Measures Bill, which will be carried on through lunch until 2.30 p.m. If it has not been concluded then, it may be necessary to return to the Committee stage after the debate on Greater London.

VISCOUNT ALEXANDER OF HILLSBOROUGH

That is to say, continue to-morrow night?

EARL ST. ALDWYN

Yes.

VISCOUNT ALEXANDER OF HILLSBOROUGH

I understand that. I had a suggestion made to me to-day that we might have to meet on Thursday. I hope that will not be done in any case, because practically all our arrangements are made.

EARL ST. ALDWYN

That is why I suggested that we met on Wednesday night to continue the Bill, because I felt it would be much more convenient to noble Lords than meeting on Thursday.
