HL Deb 21 July 1959 vol 218 c299
EARL BATHURST

My Lords, I beg to move that the Probation Officers and Clerks (Superannuation) (Amendment) Regulations, 1959, a draft of which was laid before your Lordships on June 30, be approved. These Regulations, which amend Part III of the Probation Officers and Clerks (Superannuation) Regulations, 1954, are necessary for the purely technical reason that the London County Council, under powers taken in the London County Council (General Powers) Act, 1957, have adopted a new consolidated superannuation scheme, and accordingly Part III of the 1954 Regulations, which applied to the former scheme, will no longer be appropriate. These Regulations have been drafted in consultation with my right honourable friend the Home Secretary, the London County Council and the Staff Consultative Council and the London Probation Service, and they represent an agreed measure. They received the approval of another place on July 14 and I commend these Regulations to your Lordships. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Probation Officers and Clerks (Superannuation) (Amendment) Regulations, 1959, be approved.—(Earl Bathurst.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
