HL Deb 22 April 1959 vol 215 c906
EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, it may be of interest to your Lordships to know that it is proposed to take the Committee stage of the Town and Country Planning Bill to-morrow and to adjourn between 7.0 and 7.30 p.m. and continue the Committee stage on Monday next, April 27. If it should be found necessary, in view of the large number of Amendments, a third day will be made available.

LORD SILKIN

My Lords, like the noble Earl, I hope that we can finish in two days, but I hope that he does not mean that we are restricted to the three days to which he refers.

EARL ST. ALDWYN

No, my Lords, we are not restricted, but I should not like to encourage noble Lords to speak more than they need.

VISCOUNT ALEXANDER OF HILLSBOROUGH

My Lords, the encouragement comes from the Government with a whole list of Amendments. They must really stand up to the position on that and see that noble Lords get a fair deal in the allocation of dates.

LORD REA

My Lords, can the noble Earl say at what time it is expected to adjourn to-morrow, after the adjournment of the debate between 7 o'clock and 7.30?

EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, it is expected that the House will rise between 7 o'clock and 7.30 p.m.
