HL Deb 22 May 1958 vol 209 cc615-6

Second Schedule, page 14, line 1, after ("thirty-nine") insert ("after the words 'Faculty of Advocates' there shall be inserted the word 'or', the words 'or a notary public' shall be omitted, and")

LORD KEITH OF AVONHOLM

My Lords, I beg to move this Amendment which is purely technical. It deletes a reference in Section 39 of the Solicitors (Scotland) Act, 1933, to notaries public—a reference which is now obsolete. The reference in that Act refers to solicitors and notaries public. There are now no notaries public in Scotland who are not solicitors, and the reference to notaries public in that section is now obsolete and unnecessary. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Keith of Avonholm.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
