§ 2.35 p.m.
§ LORD DYNEVORMy Lords, I beg to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.
§ [The Question was as follows:
§ To ask Her Majesty's Government what acreage of afforestation has taken place in the counties of Carmarthen, Cardigan and Breconshire up to the end of the last planting season; what further developments of their nature are contemplated; and how much land for the purpose has been acquired.]
EARL ST. ALDWYNMy Lords, the area of plantations established by the Forestry Commission in Carmarthen, Cardigan and Breconshire up to the end of the last planting season is 60,908 acres. The approximate area to be planted in the next three seasons is 12,598 acres and the land in hand for planting is 32,865 acres.
§ LORD DYNEVORMy Lords, I thank the noble Earl for that reply.
