§ 3.54 p.m.
EARL BATHURSTMy Lords, on behalf of my noble friend Lord Dundee, I beg to move that this Order be approved. This modest Order continues the state of affairs that has existed since 1949, whereby a levy is raised upon the members of the lace industry in order to provide a fund for industrial and scientific research. This 1958 Order increases the amount of the levy from some £10,000 to £16,350, and it also slightly modifies the method in which the levy should be collected from the six branches of the industry. This Order has the approval 233 of all the interested sections of the industry, and I commend it for your Lordships' approval.
§ Moved, That the Draft Lace Industry (Scientific Research Levy) Order, 1958, be approved.—(Earl Bathurst.)
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
