HL Deb 10 December 1958 vol 213 c163

2.35 p.m.

LORD FRASER OF LONSDALE

My Lords, I beg to ask the first Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government how many cases of robbery of cash being conveyed from banks to places of work for payment of wages have taken place this year in the Metropolitan area, and whether this shows any increase over past years.]

LORD CHESHAM

My Lords, the precise information for which the noble Lord asks is not available, but I am informed that in the Metropolitan Police District in the first ten months of this year there were thirty-five robberies of messengers carrying money. The figure for the whole of 1957 was thirty-one.
