HL Deb 09 May 1957 vol 203 c546
EARL FORTESCUE

My Lords, in view of the fact that there were not many noble Lords in the House last night when the statement about Business next week was made, I should like to repeat it now. It is as follows. It has been arranged through the usual channels that we shall not now ask the House to meet on Monday next to start the Committee stage of the Rent Bill. We understand that we may expect the co-operation of the Opposition in concluding that stage of this Bill on Tuesday evening, even though we do not begin it till that afternoon at half past two. I think, however, that it will be necessary to ask your Lordships to sit late and to have a dinner adjournment, as we did last Tuesday.
