LORD FARINGDON

My Lords, I beg to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will take steps to make conveniences available for the use of witnesses, defendants and other members of the public who may have to spend protracted periods in the waiting hall at Marlborough Street Magistrate's Court.]

THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION (VISCOUNT HAILSHAM)

My Lords, my right honourable friend the Home Secretary is having immediate inquiries made to see what it is possible to do, within the limitations of the existing premises, and he has asked me to say that he will write to the noble Lord as soon as these inquiries are completed.

LORD FARINGDON

My Lords, may I ask the noble Viscount to convey my thanks to the right honourable gentleman?
