HL Deb 31 October 1956 vol 199 c1230
LORD SILKIN

My Lords, I beg to ask the Acting Leader of the House whether he proposes to make any statement on the situation in Egypt.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR COMMONWEALTH RELATIONS (THE EARL OF HOME)

My Lords, as we are debating the situation tomorrow, such statement as I would be able to make to-day would be shot and factual. I think I shall be in a position to tell your Lordships something, although not very much. about 3.45 this afternoon. If Our business is concluded before then, perhaps we might, if agreeable to your Lordships, adjourn during pleasure, and reassemble about that time.
