HL Deb 30 October 1956 vol 199 cc1150-1

Clause 6, page 8, line 16, leave out ("any purpose other than") and insert ("making any further reproduction therefrom or for any other purpose except")

LORD MANCROFT

My Lords, this is another Amendment about ephemeral recordings. Fears have been expressed—I do not know whether they have been expressed by the noble Lord, Lord Lucas of Chilworth—that the clause as drafted would allow the B.B.C. to take a further copy of an ephemeral recording at the end of each twenty-seven day period, thereby prolonging the period indefinitely. The present Amendment makes it quite clear that the making of any such reproduction is not allowable under the clause. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Mancroft.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
