HL Deb 30 October 1956 vol 199 cc1175-6

Clause 18, page 27, line 6, leave out ("every infringement") and insert ("infringements").

LORD MANCROFT

My Lords, Amendments Nos. 47, 48, 52 and 53 all march together, and are concerned with Clauses 18 and 19—that is, the action taken by the owner of copyright for infringement and the rights of the owner of copyright in respect of infringement of copyright. The four Amendments which go together give effect to the decision of Her Majesty's Government, taken whilst the Bill was in another place, that the period of limitation of actions in respect of infringement of copyright should be the period of limitation fixed by the ordinary law for actions in tort, which in England, as your Lordships will know, is six years, under Section 2 of the Limitation Act, 1939. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Mancroft.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

Clause 18, page 27, line 13, leave out subsection (2)

LORD MANCROFT
