HL Deb 15 November 1956 vol 200 c368

5.9 p.m.

EARL FORTESCUE

My Lords, there are two matters I should like to bring to your Lordships' attention before the House adjourns. The first is that it has been agreed through the usual channels that we should meet half an hour earlier on Wednesday next. The reason is that many noble Lords have intimated that they wish to speak on the Motion of the noble Lord, Lord Simon of Wythenshawe; and by meeting half an hour earlier we hope that we shall complete the debate by a reasonable hour. The second point I should like to bring to your Lordships' notice is this. I am sorry to say that the noble Lord, Lord Beveridge, is ill. In the circumstances, it has been found necessary to postpone the debate on his proposal for a Royal Commission on the Oxford Roads, which stands for Wednesday November 28. The postponement has been generally agreed to by those associated with the noble Lord, Lord Beveridge, and by Her Majesty's Government. I am sure that I am giving expression to the feelings of the whole House in wishing the noble Lord, Lord Beveridge, a speedy recovery.

House adjourned at ten minutes past five o'clock.
