HL Deb 21 June 1956 vol 197 c1225

Order of the Day for the Third Reading read.

LORD CLITHEROE

My Lords, this small Bill was welcomed in all quarters of your Lordships' House and I therefore hope that it will receive an unopposed Third Reading this afternoon. It is, I think, very much in the public interest. The Bill eases a little the position of widows and retired pensioners whose circumstances still allow them to earn a little money. The Bill provides for altering the extent to which deductions from their benefits are made in respect of their earnings. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 3ª.—(Lord Clitheroe.)

On Question, Bill read 3ª, and passed.
