§ Clause 27, page 17, line 31, leave out lines 311 to 34.
§ THE LORD CHANCELLORMy Lords, this is out of the run of drafting Amendments but, with Amendment No. 29, it substitutes for the old proviso 1205 a proviso to subsection (3) the elect of which is to prevent the committal of a debtor to prison for neglect to attend at an adjourned hearing of a judgment unless his travelling expenses were paid to him on the service of the judgment summons or on the service of the subsequent order to attend. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.
§ (Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Lord Chancellor.)
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
§ VISCOUNT ALEXANDER OF HILLSBOROUGHMy Lords, the noble and learned Viscount is treating us all so courteously but I am wondering, since we are all in agreement, whether we could save some time by taking all the Amendments on each clause en bloc, clause by clause.
§ THE LORD CHANCELLORCertainly, if I may do that. I am grateful to the noble Viscount for his kindness to me.
