HL Deb 19 June 1956 vol 197 c1047

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

LORD AMULREE

My Lords, the point of this short Bill is to enable the Governor of Charterhouse to let some of the buildings, which were destroyed by enemy action during the war, and which have now been completely restored, for the purpose of raising money for the upkeep of pensioners. The present scheme will bring in a little more money for the maintenance of the pensioners and will, I think, improve the standing of the charity. Again, the project has been widely publicised and has produced no objection. I beg to move that the Bill be now read a second time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(Lord Amulree.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
