HL Deb 23 July 1956 vol 199 c3
LORD OGMORE

My Lords, I beg to ask the first Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows.

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they have any statement to make on the threatened resignation of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Premier of the Eastern Region of Nigeria, and his allegation that his resignation is due to the fact that he is not prepared to take dictation from the Governor or the Secretary of State.]

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (LORD LLOYD)

My Lords, my right honourable friend will be making a full statement to-morrow about this matter in another place and I shall make a similar statement in your Lordships' House.
