HL Deb 20 December 1956 vol 200 c1329
EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, I beg to move that this Order be approved.

Moved, That the Draft Coastal Flooding (Acreage Payments) Scheme, 1957, reported from the Special Orders Committee on the 12th December, be approved. —(Earl St. Aldwyn.)

THE EARL OF LISTOWEL

My Lords, I do not propose to comment on the scheme, which is uncontroversial, but I should like to ask the noble Earl one question. Can he say how soon the land that was flooded in the winter of 1953 will be completely rehabilitated?

EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, we anticipate that by the end of the period of this scheme practically all of this land will have been rehabilitated. Maybe a few acres will be left, and they will be assisted, if necessary, under the marginal production scheme. This is the last of the schemes under the present Bill.

THE EARL OF LISTOWEL

My Lords, I am obliged to the noble Earl.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
