§ EARL FORTESCUEMy Lords, before the House adjourns, there are two announcements that I have to make to your Lordships. First, the Christmas Recess will begin on Friday, December 21, but we hope that your Lordships will adjourn after the conclusion of Business on the afternoon of the previous day—that is the 20th. At the present moment. no Business has been put down for the following day. Parliament will reassemble in the New Year on Tuesday, January 22.
The second announcement I have to make is that there will be a formal 1176 Sitting of the House to-morrow, Friday. at 11.30 a.m., to receive the Hydrocarbon Oil Duties (Temporary Increase) Bill from another place. It has been agreed to take the Second Reading of this Bill as first Order on Tuesday next, December 18.
