THE EARL OF ONSLOWMy Lords, it may be convenient for me to inform the House that it is expected that Prorogation will take place during the week beginning Monday, October 29, and that the new Session will be opened on Tuesday. November 6. I would, however, remind the House that power already exists with the Lord Chancellor, upon representations being made by the Government, to call the House together at any time during the Recess if such a course should be necessary in the public interest.
LORD REAMy Lords, may I ask the noble Marquess whether, if representations are made to the Government by other Parties, he will consider making such representations to the Lord Chancellor?
