HL Deb 27 October 1955 vol 194 c73

3.6 p.m.

VISCOUNT ELIBANK

My Lords, I beg to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they can indicate the sites which were examined for a guided missile range in the North West of Scotland and the Hebrides, other than on the Island of South Uist, and whether they can state the results of such examinations.]

THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF DEFENCE (LORD CARRINGTON)

My Lords, with permission I will deal with the points raised by the noble Lord during the debate which is to take place later this afternoon on the Motion put down by the noble Lord, Lord Polwarth.

VISCOUNT ELIBANK

My Lords, as I, of course, surrender my right to elucidate points which may arise out of the noble Lord's answer, may I say that he has indicated to me, outside the precincts of the Chamber, dial he would not object to my interrupting him in the course of his speech.

LORD CARRINGTON

My Lords, I notice that the noble Viscount is down to speak on this debate. My real concern is for his digestion: I do not want him to have the pudding before he has had the soup. I shall be very glad indeed if he interrupts me or intervenes during my remarks.
