HL Deb 22 June 1955 vol 193 cc251-2

2.50 p.m.

LORD VANSITTART

My Lords, I beg to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether during the last three months there has been any diminution of Communist propaganda and interference in the affairs of other countries, and if so, where.]

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (THE MARQUESS OF READING)

My Lords, I am afraid that I cannot say that there is any evidence that Communist propaganda and interference in the affairs of other countries have diminished.

LORD VANSITTART

My Lords, I thank the noble Marquess for his brief and frank reply. May we hope that this particular topic will receive some attention in the forthcoming conversations?

THE MARQUESS OF READING

My Lords, I certainly hope that the matters to which the noble Lord has referred in his question will take their part in, and I trust have a satisfactory outcome from, the result of the forthcoming meeting.
