THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY)

My Lords, I beg to inform the House that I have a Message from Her Majesty under her Royal signed manual respecting the revoking of Her Majesty's Proclamation declaring that a state of emergency exists within the meaning of the Emergency Powers Act, 1920, which Her Majesty has commanded me to deliver to your Lordships. The Message is as follows:

"Her Majesty by Proclamation dated the thirty-first day of May, nineteen hundred and fifty-five, having declared the existence of a state of emergency for the purposes of the Emergency Powers Act, 1920; and it having appeared to Her Majesty that the state of emergency has now ceased to exist; Her Majesty has deemed it proper by Proclamation dated the twenty-first day of June, nineteen hundred and fifty-five, to proclaim, direct and ordain that the said Proclamation of the thirty-first day of May, nineteen hundred and fifty-five, is revoked."

By the Queen, signed with her own hand.

THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY

My Lords, I beg to move that an humble Address be presented to Her Majesty, thanking Her Majesty for her most gracious Message informing this House that, by Proclamation, Her Majesty has revoked the Proclamation of the 31st day of May, 1955, proclaiming a state of emergency.

Moved accordingly, and, on Question, Motion agreed to nemine dissentiente: the said Address to be presented to Her Majesty by the Lords with White Staves.
