THE EARL OF LISTOWEL

My Lords, I beg to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what conclusions they have reached as a result of their undertaking of February 23 to examine the use of common land.]

THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE, FISHERIES AND FOOD (EARL ST. ALDWYN)

My Lords, my right honourable friend the Prime Minister is making a statement on this subject in another place this afternoon. Noble Lords will understand that I cannot anticipate that statement now, and so, with the noble Earl's permission and with your Lordships' leave, I will make a statement later in the afternoon, at a convenient point in our proceedings.
