§ To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will state the amount of the contributions which each contributory nation has made to date to the United Nations Korean Reconstruction Agency; whether the contributions are in the form of grants; and on what basis the amounts of the contributions were calculated.]
THE MINISTER CF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (THE MARQUESS OF READING)My Lords, as the Answer is rather long I will, with your Lordships' permission, circulate a statement of contributions in the OFFICIAL REPORT. This statement gives the total contributions in dollars on February 28, 1955, the latest date for which complete figures are available. Since then Her Majesty's Government have made a final contribution of £535,715, bringing our total payment to £9,585,715, Contributions were in the form of grants, and represented the amounts which Governments felt able to give. I should like to take this opportunity to add that the United Nations Korean Reconstruction Agency has performed an invaluable task in relieving suffering in Korea, and has been of real assistance to the Korean economy.
