HL Deb 22 November 1954 vol 189 cc1743-4

Second Schedule, page 32, line 37, at end insert—

("Section 63 The words "belonging to the Port of London Authority or the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board and" shall be omitted.")

LORD CARRINGTON

My Lords, this is a very small point. There are some slaughterhouses at ports throughout the country under the control of the Ministry of Agriculture and used by them for the slaughter of diseased or wounded animals on importation. As these slaughterhouses are carefully supervised and approved by the Ministry of Agriculture there is no point in making them subject to licensing and by-law provisions. This Amendment exempts them from these provisions. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Carrington.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
