HL Deb 22 November 1954 vol 189 cc1725-6

Clause 18, page 16, line 41, leave out from ("shall") to end of line 40, on page 17, and insert ("deal with the sample in accordance with the provisions of Schedule (Provisions as to the manner in which samples taken or purchased for analysis are to be dealt with) to this Act.

(2) The said Schedule shall apply to the purchase of samples by any person who is neither a sampling officer nor a person having the powers of a sampling officer as they apply in relation to the purchase of samples by a sampling officer; and references therein to a sampling officer shall be construed accordingly.

(3) Arty reference in the principal Act or this Act to this section shall be construed as including a reference to the said Schedule.")

LORD CARRINGTON

My Lords, this Amendment goes with the Amendment to Clause 18, page 18, line 7. All that it does is to remove procedural provisions for the disposal of samples to a Schedule which I shall move in rather more detail later. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Carrington.)

VISCOUNT HUDSON

My Lords, may I take this opportunity once again to thank the Government for this Amendment? It, and the consequential part of the Schedule, will undoubtedly relieve the minds of a great number of dairymen who particularly wanted some provision of this kind inserted and a change made. I am sure that I am speaking in their name when I say also how grateful they are to the Government for introducing this particular form of words.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
