§ Second Schedule, page 15, line 14, first column, after ("Magpie") insert ("Moorhen").
§ Third Schedule, page 15, line 22, leave out ("Moorhen").
§ The Commons disagreed to these Amendments for the following Reason:
§ Because they are not satisfied that the moorhen is sufficiently harmful to be proscribed throughout the year.
§ EARL JOWITTMy Lords, I beg to move that this House do not insist on these Amendments. I do so with some regret, because I think our Amendments were very good; but we all want to get this Bill passed and I think the sensible course to take is not to insist on our Amendments, bearing in mind that the Home Secretary has power to move birds from one Schedule to another.
§ Moved, That this House do not insist on the Amendments to which the Commons have disagreed.—(Earl Jowitt.)
VISCOUNT ELIBANKMy Lords, I should like to support the noble and learned Earl. I regret this, too; but in view of the fact that we want this Bill and have a chance of getting it, I am prepared to withdraw any opposition I had in this regard and to support the Motion.
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
