Order of the Day read for the consideration of the Commons Message of Tuesday, June 22: That they have appointed a Committee consisting of seven Members to join with a Committee of this House to consider what alterations, if any, are desirable in the practice and the Standing Orders of the two Houses relating to Private Legislation, having special regard to the desirability of lessening the expense at present incurred, and request this House to appoint an equal number of Lords to be joined with the Members of their House.

THE EARL OF DROGHEDA

My Lords, I beg to move that a Committee of Seven Lords be appointed to join with the Committee of the Commons as a Joint Committee on Private Bill Procedure, and that the following Lords be named of the Committee:—Lord Derwent, Lord Hindlip, Lord Merthyr, Lord Rea, Lord Belstead, Lord Latham and Lord Milner of Leeds.

Moved, That a Committee of Seven Lords be appointed to join with the Committee of the Commons as a Joint Committee on Private Bill Procedure, and that the Lords following be named of the Committee:

Ordered, That such Committee have power to agree with the Committee of the Commons in the appointment of a Chairman: Then a Message was ordered to be sent to the Commons to inform them of the appointment of the said Committee by this House.
