HL Deb 17 February 1954 vol 185 cc963-4
LORD CALVERLEY

My Lords, I beg to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will give the names of technical colleges which have benefited from the grants made and authorised by the Finance Act, 1953, for the encouragement of technological research.]

THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY)

My Lords, I am sending the noble Lord a list of twenty-two technical colleges, in fifteen local education authority areas, where courses in advanced technology have been approved for specially increased grant under regulations made by my right honourable friend the Minister of Education. This approval covers research work in connection with these courses.

LORD CALVERLEY

My Lords, I should like to ask the Lord President whether Bradford is included on that list.

THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY

Yes, Bradford is on the list.
