§
Clause 2, page 2, line 15, at end insert—
(" (3) Any licence granted under this Act shall provide that at all times at which intoxicating liquor is sold food and beverages other than those of an intoxicating character shall also be provided for sale.")
LORD LLOYDMMy Lords, this Amendment also is not a difficult one. It emanates, I think, from the temperance interests in another place— I am sure the noble Viscount, Lard Stansgate will approve of that; he is always a very temperate Member— and it provides that where intoxicating liquor is sold, equally there shall be provision for those who do not believe in intoxicating liquor, and that soft drinks and also food shall be provided. This is only putting into the Bill what already happens in all these canteens; indeed, it puts less of an obligation upon the canteens than they already fulfil. Therefore Her Majesty's Government have no objection to accepting the Amendment. I beg to move that the House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.
§ Moved, That the House do agree with the Commons to the said Amendment.— (Lord Lloyd.)
§ On Question. Motion agreed to.
