HL Deb 05 May 1953 vol 182 c212

Clause 23, page 33, line 11, leave out from ("be") to end of line 18, and insert ("fourteen, of whom at least two shall be persons appointed after consultation with the Secretary of State for Scotland as being persons likely to be conversant with the circumstances and special requirements of Scotland;")

The Commons agreed to the above Amendment and made the following consequential Amendment to the Bill:—

Fourth Schedule, page 50, leave out lines 22 and 23.

LORD LEATHERS

My Lords, coming to the third and last Amendment, I beg to move that this House do agree with the Commons consequential Amendment in the Fourth Schedule, at page 50. The noble Lord, Lord Lucas, will remember during the Committee stage the acceptance of one of his Amendments, the effect of which was to re instate the provision of the Transport Act of 1947 that four members of the Commission, in addition to the Chairman, should be full-timers. When that Amendment was made, it so happened that we inadvertently omitted to make a consequential Amendment to the Schedule of the Bill which lists the statutory provisions being repealed. This is therefore no more than a consequential and drafting Amendment. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Leathers.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
